Hot Cross Buns for Good Friday

On 15 April 2022, Allspice Institute teamed up with alumnus Ms. Agnes and conducted a fundraising project with the Bold Bakers and CBMC Singapore. The team made Hot Cross Buns, which carried significant meanings during this Easter week celebration. In 1592, Queen Elizabeth I decreed that the buns could no longer be sold on any day except for Good Friday, Christmas or burials. The myth is that they were too special to be eaten any other day.

Chef Anup, Ms Agnes and two more alumni volunteers did the impossible: 800 Hot Cross Buns within 8 hours!

Ms Agnes shared her thoughts about working with Allspice Institute after studying there. She believed that the Institute was the best in baking and would successfully reach the goal of this drive.

Xmas Event

For our Christmas Event in 2019, it was our pleasure to give back to the immigrant community of Singapore. We were delighted to spread the cheer at the Migrant Workers’ Centre in Kranji and Jurong. Allspice Institute completed a Charity Drive at the Centre, donating 250 packets of Chicken Biryani and 250 packets of Vegetable Biryani.

Circle of Friends

Allspice Institute combined forces with the Circle of the Friends group, to distribute 50 Bento Boxes, each containing staple rice, mixed vegetables, choice of meat, fish or chicken, and dessert. Running every Tuesday and Thursday since 2018 (till the start of the COVID-19 pandemic), the Served with Love Charity Drive helped support underprivileged families in Bukit Merah. We are grateful for all the support and love our staff and volunteers provided.
